I’ve seen the adverts for these and I have yet to find them appealing. LOL, but I love the nom or vom concept. 😀

It’s a great idea and definitely falls under the ‘Fun’ column. ;D

linked me to that article with the express purpose of getting me to do a Nom or Vom post about it. You may note, I have lifted the picture DIRECTLY from that article.

I thought it looked familiar, but wasn’t sure if NPR lifted it directly from somewhere else.

    Potato!

    1. admin November 8, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Ideally, these need to be served on a bed of hash browns and covered in gravy.

      Just sayin.

I said nom nom nom, but honestly, the more correct answer would probably be: nom nom nom immediately followed by vom vom vom

    1. admin November 8, 2010 at 8:37 pm

      Would I try them? Yes.
Would I feel wretched immediately afterward? Very, very likely.

I’m not really even a pancakes or a breakfast sausage eater. I don’t know why this particular combination makes me go “yeah, I’d put that in my face.”

      1. xeross609 November 8, 2010 at 9:14 pm

I think it just works well because sausage drowned in extra syrup from the pancakes is pretty amazing.

    BBQ sauce might also work!

    1. admin November 8, 2010 at 9:05 pm

      You’re right, it probably would!

      1. badrobot68 November 8, 2010 at 9:08 pm

I’m a big fan of mini corn dogs (they look a lot like those) and I use BBQ sauce for them! The Cuff stopped serving them, so I need to find someplace else to get my fix. Sometimes mall food courts have them.

        1. admin November 8, 2010 at 9:12 pm

Does the Unicorn serve them? They serve full-size corn dogs for sure.

          1. badrobot68 November 8, 2010 at 9:34 pm

Theirs are all fancy and come with tons of stuff I don;t need! 🙂

  16. matrixx November 9, 2010 at 1:09 am

I’d be all over that if it was vegetarian “sausage”.

  17. captain_slinky November 9, 2010 at 1:32 am

How can anybody NOT vote for Ranch Dressing?!?! That stuff makes EVERYTHING edible! That’s why the folks at the Jack in the Box Drive-Thru hand you a tub of it with every purchase! IT IS GAWD-SAUCE!!!

    1. aliminx November 9, 2010 at 1:37 am

I would usually be with you, as I actually worship Mayonnaise, Ranch dressing and Sour Cream on Sunday instead of God. But, once we’re talking about maple syrup pancakes, I no longer want to combine ranch dressing.

Most any other time, yes, absolutely.

      1. captain_slinky November 9, 2010 at 1:47 am

I would not dismiss the idea until having tried it… I’ve had Ranch on the Jack in The Box French Toast Sticks, Funnel Cakes, Churros…. okay, the Churros were a bad idea. But the others? They worked! And considering the savory sausage filling inside the donut in question here, I really think it can pull it off!

But you know what that donut REALLY needs? Melted cheese, right in there with the sausage. Then dipped in Ranch.

        1. aliminx November 9, 2010 at 1:58 am

See, now I could probably get with melted cheese – even though the thought of cheese with maple syrup freaks me out. But, I’ve had that pancake sandwich thing at McDonald’s, and I ain’t gonna lie, I have a little love affair going with those bitches. So, maybe I could get with cheese and pancakes. I have to tell you, I am definitely going to try some of these things, and I am now going to HAVE to dip at least one of them in ranch dressing.

      2. admin November 9, 2010 at 5:04 am

LOL I also attend the Holy Church of Ranch.

    2. admin November 9, 2010 at 5:06 am

That’s why I put ranch up there, I thought that even though the maple bit might make it icky, the sausage might be enough to pull it off. Plus ranch on mini corn dogs is A+ delicious and these LOOK like mini corn dogs. That’s about all it takes to convince me.

  18. aliminx November 9, 2010 at 1:34 am

I’m going to need to seek one of these suckers out.

Although I would never touch this due to food intolerance, I would use ketchup because while I can probably tolerate ketchup on a pancake, I wouldn’t be able to tolerate syrup on a…whatever is inside. I am anti-syrup. D:

Now, BUTTER, however, would have been perfect for all of it.

When I was in NJ last year they had just brought back their waffle sandwiches and OH MY FUCKING GOD.

So this year, me and went to a Dunkins and I tried to get him to taste it. HE DID NOT. 😐

    1. badrobot68 November 9, 2010 at 2:32 am

I think it was way too much for that early in the morning.

      1. alexjon November 9, 2010 at 2:55 am

        It’s breakfast food! Kinda.

        1. badrobot68 November 9, 2010 at 3:16 am

You know in my family, panckaes were Sunday night dinner, right? I never knew they were supposedly a breakfast food until I was like 20.

    2. admin November 9, 2010 at 5:05 am

I could see not wanting to eat the whole thing, but completely refusing just a taste? 🙁

  24. jessidear84 November 9, 2010 at 11:48 pm

They served something very similar to this for the school breakfast program back in the goood ol awful days, and I remember them being ON A STICK and pretty tasty.

Though now that I think about it, who would ever suggest that this dietary monstrosity would be “part of a balanced diet” for elementary school kids? No wonder we are so damn fat =P
